In the early years of Matilda´s life whilst our dachshund, Peanut was still alive they made a terrific team and were good friends. We went on many adventures with them and one particularly comes to mind when I decided to descend a very rocky/boulder containing pathway to a beach in nearby Guincho called Praia de Abano, a beach of a lot of wind and movement due to the gusty winds that are common there.
Initially I made nothing of it, but then it dawned on me that the descent was worse than I had anticipated, even for me... but my gang of two plodded on behind me, complaining but not giving up, so we persisted at made it to this beach that today really does not exist as the sea has swept huge bolders over it, almost completely covering it now.
I believe I carried Matilda back up on our ascent, but we had a wonderful afternoon in a rather unique place.
Mighty Matilda was tinier than many of the rocks she climbed over but she succeeded, hence living up to her name!
