Always with us

This shot in our lounge on a warmer February day last year (2016) represents the classic pose of Matilda from when she was a puppy and throughout her life. She loved relaxing, taking in the moment and always being actively present.

Depending on the time of day shwe had various locations in our home where she would move to and a lot of the time she loved sitting on the couch with us.

Even as her illness advanced, Teresa made a small bed next to our bed where she came to in the early hours of the morning to rest after spending most of the evening in my office.

This was a routine she stuck to like clockwork, and Ellie, our other dachshund knew this was her domain!

Matilda had her unique routine, what was so important to her was that she was always with us. Be it in front of my feet in my office where her day bed was, in the evening on the couch as we watched TV or next to whilst we slept. A better friend one could never ask for, loyal to the end.

What has been interesting, and I will write more about this in teh future is that Matilda has been sending us little messages when we most need them. It is not a direct request, response mechanism, but they come when they are needed and come in very creative ways.

We are blessed to know that all is well with her and that she remains, forever by our side!
